Tuesday’s cabinet meeting interrupted. Uhuru and CSs abandon chairs.

“This is a serious exercise and to show the government commitment, we cancelled the Cabinet meeting to monitor the exams around the country. We are moulding the future leaders and that is why we are taking the whole process with the seriousness it deserves,” the publication quoted Mr. Macharia.

The Tuesday Oct 29th Cabinet meeting was interrupted by the Kenya National Certificate of Primary Education KCPE exams which kicked off today.

Daily Nation reported that CSs, among them James Macharia of Transport alongside several others would not be attending the planned meeting but instead they will be traversing the country to oversee the smooth start of the exercise.

Speaking to journalists in Kigumo Murang’a, Cs Macharia claimed that the final exams were equally important and every CS was required to keep guard.

“This is a serious exercise and to show the government commitment, we cancelled the Cabinet meeting to monitor the exams around the country. We are moulding the future leaders and that is why we are taking the whole process with the seriousness it deserves,” the publication quoted Mr. Macharia.

Other cabinet members include, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha (Mombasa), Najib Balala of Tourism (Nairobi), Public Service CS Margaret Kobia (Meru), Interior CS Fred Matiang’i (Nakuru) while his ICT counterpart Joe Mucheru was in Nyeri.

The exams are scheduled to take four days from today Oct 29th and to end on Thursday, October 31st where 1,088,986 candidates are undertaking the tests.
