Four of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s bodyguards have been re-arrested according to the Daily Nation.

The arrested four who will now have to face new charges of assaulting police officers, were reportedly accused of causing chaos outside the Integrity Centre on Tuesday when their boss Sonko visited the EACC offices.

Richard Bosire, John Abok, Joseph Mwangi, Kennedy Odhiambo on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot, where they denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of KSh 100, 000 each before being rearrested.

The four had spent their Tuesday night in custody following a fracas outside the EACC headquarters where Sonko had gone for interrogation.

This is after Sonko was recorded apparently slapping a Standard Media Group journalist Collins Kweyu, a photographer while arriving at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday, November 5.

The governor is facing corruption charges following reports of colluding with garbage collection contractors to defraud Nairobi City huge sums of money.
