“Hallo boss, ni Mariga. Nimepiga nikuambie congratulations. Race imekuwa poa, hatukupigana mahali popote tulikuwa pamoja. Niko ready hata kwa lunch…vile utataka, na pia support yoyote utataka kutoka kwangu, niko ready,” Mariga said. “After elections tutarudi ile life yetu ya mabeshte na kila kitu…Kabisa Sir.”

Jubilee’s candidate in the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga was the first loser to send a congratulatory message to his rival Imran Okoth of ODM in the just concluded minipoll.

Mariga, in his congratulatory message noted that he was happy with how the election exercise had been conducted.

In the recorded two minute video, Mariga is seen saying, “Hallo boss, ni Mariga. Nimepiga nikuambie congratulations. Race imekuwa poa, hatukupigana mahali popote tulikuwa pamoja. Niko ready hata kwa lunch…vile utataka, na pia support yoyote utataka kutoka kwangu, niko ready,” Mariga said. “After elections tutarudi ile life yetu ya mabeshte na kila kitu…Kabisa Sir.”

What loosely can be translated to, “I have called to congratulate you, the race was peaceful we haven’t fought and I am ready for a lunch date.”

Okoth on the other side can be heard accepting the concession call from Mariga who promises any support to Imran to ensure residents enough services.

According to The Standard, by the time of this phone call, Mr. Imran had garnered 4,051 votes against Mariga’s 1,602 from 32 of the 183 polling stations.
