President Uhuru Kenyatta has embarrassed Chief Justice David Maraga again.
Uhuru who has always expressed his dissatisfaction in the way the judiciary has been handling cases in the country especially those concerning the big fish implicated in graft, on Friday decided to bail Benedict Karisa out of jail.
Kenyatta is said to have paid a whopping sh 1 million fine which the suspect had been asked to pay to have his freedom back. Karisa had been jailed for two years by a Mombasa court a week ago after he was found in possession of a python.
He had pleaded guilty of the offense leading to the two years sentence issued at a Mombasa Court.
A background check on Karisa indicated that he came from a poor family and could not settle the fine hence sent to Shimo la Tewa Prison.
But on Friday Feb 21st, Coast Regional Coordinator John Elungata announced that President Kenyatta had decided to secure the freedom of the victim by settling the sh 1 million as asked by the court.
The head of state also offered another sh 8,000 to Karisa to help him travel back home safely.
