Reports reaching our desk indicate that Jubilee Sec Gen Raphael Tuju has already undergone a spinal surgery at Kijabe Mission Hospital after he was involved in an accident.

Tuju was involved in a road accident on Wednesday morning while he was headed to Kabarak Nakuru to meet Moi’s body for final send off. The incident happened along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at Kijabe area.

According to the Kijabe Hospital CEO Dr. Ken Muma, the Cabinet Secretary couldn’t immediately be airlifted to Nairobi since he was in unstable condition.

Since sustaining injuries from the deadly crash that saw his Pajero brutally damaged, Tuju has been complaining of chest pains and breathing difficulties.

Doctors said he sustained impact injury after his speeding car collided with an oncoming matatu leading to intra-abdominal bleeding and vertebral disc prolapse.

Traffic reports on the other hand indicated that he was not wearing a safety belt by the time he was crashed.

Those who joined Mr. Tuju in hospital are Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed of Sports and Culture and Joe Mucheru from communication ministry.

He met the accident en-route to Kabarak Nakuru County to attend the retired President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi’s burial which saw special dignitaries among them Hon. Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta attend.

Reports indicate that the Toyota Land Cruiser that Tuju was travelling in with his driver and bodyguard, hit a matatu at Magina area along the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

The driver of the matatu which collided with Tuju’s car is also on life support machine at Kijabe Hospital.
