“Kenyans love bringing down their own, and now the same Bet365 is probably the most popular betting site in Kenya, more revenue for them and more tax revenue for the UK.” Karauri wrote.

Woes facing Kenya’s biggest betting firm Sportpesa will not end soon.

This is after England based Everton announced terminating their engagement with the compnay barely a month after Ireland Football Association terminated their Sportpesa contract. Sportpesa traces its root in Kenya.

Reacting to the unfolding, Sportpesa CEO Karauri Ronald mentioned that Kenyans were fond of bringing down their own instead of supporting. He was responding to city lawyer Donald Kipkorir’s sentiments that developed countries were chasing away all betting firms and that the same must be replicated in Kenya by not allowing the likes of Sportpesa back.

“Ireland then now England is terminating all contracts with SportPesa.

“These are highly developed countries who have decided to do away with gambling in Sports… Kenya, a poor and miserable country is excited with gambling and Prime Time News is even sponsored by betting companies,” Kipkorir tweeted.

But Karauri, in sharp rejoinder through his twitter handle, wondered why anyone would be celebrating their fall

“The biggest betting company in the world – Bet365 – resides in England.

“Kenyans love bringing down their own, and now the same Bet365 is probably the most popular betting site in Kenya, more revenue for them and more tax revenue for the UK.” Karauri wrote.
