“He is a politician and a leader, and so he is preparing himself because the General Election is not far away,” Alex Kiprotich, Gideon’s PA stated, noting that the meeting had political significance.

The late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi’s son Gideon Moi on Friday March 13th hosted over 1000 visitors from Central Kenya.

Among them was beleaguered former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu who has since been ousted from office due to graft cases he is facing in court.

Mr. Ferdinand Waititu.

Waitutu who used to coalesce around deputy president William Ruto was, throughout the meeting, seen siting close to Mr. Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru.

The move to bring on board the Agikuyu members has been seen by pundits as a scheme by Moi to endear himself to the masses from Mt. Kenya following the fallout between Uhuru and his deputy.

“He is a politician and a leader, and so he is preparing himself because the General Election is not far away,” Alex Kiprotich, Gideon’s PA stated, noting that the meeting had political significance.

This is happening hot the heels of the back and forth tussle between President Uhuru and Mr. Ruto who has taken thetask by himself to campaign in the region without the blessing of his boss.

Since his father’s death, Gideon has held several other meetings with delegates from other parts of the country with a promise to keep the legacy of KANU party alive.

The Friday meeting also saw leaders throw weight behind the unity of president Uhuru Kenyatta and Hon Raila Odinga’s handshake.

Moi could be in the process of preparing and positioning himself for the next general election.
