A mob has reportedly storned to death a  man suspected to have the deadly Coronavirus.

George Kotini Hezron from Kibundani Kwale County was on Tuesday March 17 assaulted by a group of youth who believed that he had the virus. This was against the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who directed that any such case must be reported to the nearest station for quick isolation.

The victim met his death at 9 PM while heading home after having a drink at Diani joint in Kwale on Tuesday.

“Kotini met a group of youths, and an argument ensued as the youths took advantage of his drunkenness and started accusing him of suffering from coronavirus. As a result, they seriously assaulted him, hence sustaining injuries,” read a report filed at Diani Police Station.

Police further confirmed that the attackers stoned the victim and some used boulders to crash the middleaged man to death according to K24 Digital.

Attempts to be saved by police who arrived later did not bear any fruits as the man was pronounced dead on arrival at Msambweni Referral Hospital.

Though no arrests had been made by the time of going to the press, area County Commander Joseph Nthenge made this confirmation to Jihami.com promising to bring the culprits to book.
